As a mom you probably feel like you have no time for yourself and that you’re being pulled in all different directions. Throughout the day you have to be a mom, a wife, maybe an employee or a volunteer and it’s not very often that you find the time to just be you, or to do something just for you.

Whether you want to lose the weight you gained during your pregnancy, or just get fitter so it’s easier to look after and play with your children we have some quick and easy weight loss tips for busy moms to get you on the right track.

1. Start the day out right

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make sure you start every day with a healthy breakfast. If time is short then a bowl of wholegrain cereal or a couple of slices of wholewheat toast is perfect. When your children are older make a date to eat breakfast together every morning and make eggs or omelettes to eat together.

2. Plan the family menu

Menu planning is really popular right now because it allows busy moms to create home cooked meals for the family even if they have to spend the day at work, or ferrying the kids around to different activities and sports.

Each week spend an hour planning what your family will eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week ahead. Think about leftovers too, rather than having everyone clear their plates (which is a sure fire way to weight gain) use the leftovers to make a meal for the following day.

Planning your meals this way saves time at the grocery store as you’ll only need to go once a week and you’ll know exactly what you need to buy.

You can also save time by batch cooking most of the meals in a single afternoon and then popping them in the fridge or the freezer to reheat when you need them.

3. Get active with the children

If you have a baby think about investing in a jogging stroller, you can jog by yourself around the local park, or you could join a stroller fit group.

If your children are older then do what they do, take them to the park and have a go on the swings yourself. Or play tag, or soccer or just throw and catch a ball together. If they’re old enough to ride a bike buy yourself one and go on bike rides together.

Your kids will enjoy the time you spend playing together and you’ll get fit and healthy without even realizing it.

They hope that when they brand these foods this way, their target audience might especially pay attention. There are plenty of foods like these that they base special diets for women on.

At one time, diets for women got away with recommending nothing more than a couple of salads and with admonishing them to keep away from Burger King. Those days are long gone now. It’s all about packing more and more high-quality nutrition into your foods and doing away with foods that are not totally healthful.

Diets for women will often make the mistake of simply rounding up a couple of the best super foods and then pushing those. Instead, what we’re going to do, is to round everything up. Why should you just be on one kind of high-quality diet when you can have more?

If you need a more regular healthy recipe, these are great for the vitamins E and C. If you don’t find that you are too crazy about sweet potatoes though, how about butternut squash or pumpkin?

There are plenty of other super foods – salmon, chocolate and garlic among them.

Some will wonder at the wisdom of having to go after all these foods when they can just get as much out of a couple of supplements each day.

That’s hardly the way to think though. These diets for women work on the benefits you get from taking whole, natural foods. Supplements rarely have everything that you need.

Well, visual and mental progress means how you are looking in the mirror, how better are your clothes fitting, etc., and how you are feeling (such as your energy levels), etc.

When you keep track of this, and when you refer back to your journal, it will help you in becoming more motivated.

2. A Good Start To Your Day

A higher probability of a successful day in terms of sticking to your weight loss goals!

The 2 things I recommend you do is to ensure you have a beneficial breakfast and ensure you do a quick “wake-me-up” workout.

A beneficial breakfast will ensure that your body is primed and ready to go for the day in so many ways. This includes providing you with sustainable energy, boosting your metabolic rate, decreasing cravings and hunger pangs, and so much more.

A “wake-me-up” workout is something that should only take about 5-10 minutes to do and it should incorporate both cardio and muscle stimulation.

A perfect example of this would be a quick body weight circuit routine (such as doing some push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, and mountain climbers).

Starting your day off properly is by far the most powerful motivational tool to stick to making smart and healthy decisions for the remainder of your day.

3. Watch Those Labels…

To be able to effectively lose weight, the types of foods you eat is most certainly one of the most important aspects that will determine whether you get great results or not.

Unfortunately, the food industry really doesn’t care too much about you and your body! If they did, you wouldn’t see so much “fake healthy foods” out there, and there wouldn’t be foods loaded with hydrogenated oils, aspartame, MSG, and other dangerous things that have a negative impact on our bodies!

When you are shopping for healthy food options, the best advice I can give you is to pay very close attention to food labels. Don’t just look at the front of the package that reads “low fat” or “low carb” or “low calorie” or “fat free”, etc.

Turn that package around and read that label carefully!

Make sure it doesn’t have those harmful additives I mentioned above, and also that it isn’t substituting a reduction in one thing (i.e. fat) with more of something else (i.e. sugar).

Oh, and ladies, don’t worry, you don’t have to get GIGANTIC muscles!

6. Taking One Step At A Time Gets You One Step Closer…

Approach your goals one step at a time. Never jump into a diet and exercise plan focusing on the end goal. Focus on achieving success TODAY. It’s much easier focusing on getting success out of 24 hours… than let’s say 24 days or 24 weeks that it would take for you to reach your final goal.

When you do this, you’ll find yourself getting (and STAYING) more motivated, more consistent, and more focused than ever. Furthermore, you’ll find it easier to reach your goals!

For example, you can set some goals for tomorrow by:

  • Drinking at least 64 ounces of water before the end of the day.
  • Eating at least 3 servings of fruits and veggies.
  • Making sure you have a very good breakfast.
  • Avoiding the urge to order take out.
  • Burning off at least 200 calories with either fitness and/or some type of physical activity.

7. Avoid The Things That Notoriously Cause Failure In The First Place…

If you don’t like getting stressed out while driving… then why would you travel down a road that you know for a fact is going to be busy, stressful, or backed up with traffic? This mindset should also be applied to diet and fitness…

You should know that going on dangerous diets or doing dangerous high intensity fitness plans when you are too overweight or too out of shape, will do nothing but cause you little to no results (plus potentially additional… and serious…problems).

Therefore, ensure that with whatever it is you plan on doing, that it has a high success rate, is 100% natural, and is ideal for YOU.
